Defense budget cuts would affect Georgia National Guard

If automatic cuts to the Defense Department budget occur next month as expected, the effects would be felt in the Georgia National Guard, the adjutant general said Sunday.

“That 15,000 number,” Maj. Gen. Jim Butterworth said of the combined Army National Guard and Georgia Air Guard personnel, “that number may change.”
