Coffee County woman wins $3M in lottery

Vickie Gasque, of Cof­fee County, won $3 mil­lion Sat­ur­day play­ing the instant game “100 Times The Money.”

Gasque pur­chased her lucky ticket Sat­ur­day at Baker Express, located at 1436 Baker High­way W., Dou­glas. She scratched the ticket at the store and described her and her husband’s reac­tions as “unbelief.”

Gasque and her hus­band, Clarence, have six chil­dren. The gen­eral man­ager of a man­u­fac­tur­ing plant, Gasque doesn’t know how she will use her win­nings but said she may retire.

100X The Money is a new instant game with prizes up to $3 mil­lion. Gasque is the game’s first top prize win­ner. She took the money in a lump sum, minus 31%, which the lot­tery withholds.

Colum­bus dieti­cian, 29, Tan­isha Smith won $1 mil­lion play­ing the instant game “Max­i­mum Green.” Smith bought her ticket at Coastal Food Mart.

Smith claimed her prize Mon­day at Geor­gia Lot­tery head­quar­ters in Atlanta. Coastal Food Mart, 3600 Sec­ond Ave. in Colum­bus, sold the win­ning ticket. Smith scratched it in the store.

“I was too excited,” she said. “Other peo­ple who were in the store were happy for me.”

Smith antic­i­pates shar­ing a por­tion of her win­nings with fam­ily, sav­ing and invest­ing the remainder.
